Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Steady Cents ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to everything at steady-cents.pages.dev.

By using the site you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run a mailing list, and we do not sell anything. We do not collect your name, address, or payment details, because there is no mechanism on this site for you to give them to us.

The site does display advertising, and advertising involves third parties who set cookies and collect data about your browsing. That is the substantive part of this policy and it is covered in detail below.

Information we collect directly

Nothing you type. There are no sign-up forms, comment sections, or contact forms on this site. The only way to reach us is by email, and that is covered separately below.

Basic server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information for every request: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, pages visited, and timestamp. This is generated by the act of serving a web page and is used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing errors. Logs are retained for a limited period and are not used to build profiles of individual visitors.

Email you send us. If you email the address on our contact page, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply to you. We do not add it to any list, share it, or sell it. Correspondence is deleted once it is no longer needed.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file placed on your device by a website. Some are set by us, most are set by third parties.

Cookies we set. One, and it is optional: if you use the light/dark theme switch, your choice is stored in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It contains only the word "light" or "dark", never leaves your device, and is not readable by anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Cookies set by third parties. These come from our advertising and analytics partners, described in the next sections. We do not control them.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking third-party cookies will not break this site.

This site is funded by advertising, and we use Google AdSense to serve those ads.

Analytics

We may use privacy-focused analytics to understand which articles people find useful — for example, aggregate page view counts and referral sources.

Where analytics are enabled, they are configured to avoid tracking individuals: no cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers, and no attempt to identify you personally. Any data collected is aggregated and used solely to decide what to write next.

What we do not do

To be explicit:

• We do not sell, rent, or trade any information about you.
• We do not operate a mailing list or send marketing email.
• We do not use affiliate links or referral tracking.
• We do not require or accept payment, so we never handle payment details.
• We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data relating to you, including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, object to its processing, or withdraw consent.

Because we deliberately collect almost nothing, there is usually very little for us to act on — but if you want to exercise any of these rights, email us at the address on the contact page and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

For data held by Google in connection with advertising, requests are best directed to Google, since we do not have access to it. Google's tools for this are linked in the advertising section above.

Do Not Track. Browsers vary in how they implement Do Not Track signals and there is no agreed standard for honouring them, so we do not currently respond to them. The opt-out links above are the reliable route.

Data transfers and retention

The site is served through a global content delivery network, and our advertising partners operate internationally. This means data may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States, under the safeguards those providers maintain.

We retain server logs for a limited operational period. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. We do not maintain any other records about visitors.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. It is a static site with no database, no user accounts, and no stored personal records, which removes most categories of data breach risk by design.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
